Responsibilities

As a Carpenter, you will:

  1. Prioritize Safety:
    • Attend mandatory safety courses and meetings.
    • Adhere to all Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental policies.
    • Utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  2. Construction and Installation:
    • Build and install foundations, walls, ceilings, and roofs using materials like wood, steel, concrete, and composites.
    • Fit and install doors, windows, frames, and hardware with precision tools like levels and laser equipment.
    • Assemble scaffolding and ladders for elevated work.
  3. Blueprints and Material Preparation:
    • Read and interpret blueprints or building plans to determine dimensions and materials.
    • Cut and shape materials using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
  4. Repairs and Maintenance:
    • Repair cabinets, doors, floors, and other wooden structures.
    • Replace damaged structural parts using the appropriate tools.
    • Inspect ceilings, tiles, walls, and siding for damage and conduct necessary repairs.
  5. Equipment and Documentation:
    • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, operational condition.
    • Document repairs and inspections accurately.

Qualification Requirements

  • Secondary Education.
  • Trade Certificate or Equivalent (VETA Trade Test/NVA Level I & II).
  • Sound knowledge of Building Regulations and Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness.

Experience and Competencies

  • 2–3 years of carpentry experience, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Proficiency in Carpentry Maintenance practices and techniques.
  • Excellent safety record and familiarity with ladders, scaffolding, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong communication skills and cultural adaptability.
  • Experience in open-cast and underground mining is essential.
